Free Firefighter Study Courses in Australia: Prevent Injury and Suppress Wildfire
Start learning with two free FireRescue Training Hub study-support courses designed for Australian fire and emergency-services learners.
Important: These are non-accredited study-support courses. They do not provide a nationally recognised qualification, Statement of Attainment or formal operational competency.
What is now free?
FireRescue Training Hub now offers two free online courses for registered learners. You do not need a paid membership to complete these two courses.
PUAFIR210 — Prevent Injury
5 learning parts
This course helps learners understand workplace hazards, identify risks, apply suitable safety controls, use protective equipment and recognise when changing conditions affect safety.
It is a strong starting point for new firefighters, volunteers and emergency-services learners because it builds the safety awareness that supports all other operational learning.
PUAFIR303 — Suppress Wildfire
6 learning parts
This course explores wildfire response, preparation, fireground safety, protecting people and assets, suppression activities, mop up, patrol and recovering equipment after operations.
It is designed as study support for learners wanting to better understand wildfire operations and the thinking behind safe crew-based response.
What is included?
- Structured online lessons
- Practical learning activities
- Knowledge assessments
- Downloadable learner resources where provided
- Saved learner progress
- A FireRescue Certificate of Course Completion after successfully meeting the course requirements
Which course should you start first?
I recommend starting with PUAFIR210 — Prevent Injury.
It gives learners a solid grounding in workplace hazards, risk control, personal safety and reporting. Once that foundation is in place, PUAFIR303 — Suppress Wildfire makes even more sense.
Note: Suggested study order on FireRescue Training Hub does not replace official training package prerequisite requirements for nationally recognised training or assessment.
How do I get started?
- Create a free learner account or log in to the FireRescue members site.
- Choose either PUAFIR210 or PUAFIR303.
- Work through the lessons in order.
- Complete the knowledge checks and final assessment.
- Receive your FireRescue Certificate of Course Completion after meeting the course requirements.
Are these accredited firefighter qualifications?
No. These are non-accredited online study-support courses.
They are designed to support learning, revision and preparation. They do not replace workplace training, formal assessment, agency requirements, supervision or operational authorisation.
Always follow your organisation’s current procedures, official training requirements and supervisory direction.
